The International Students Admissions Test (ISAT) is an important exam that many international students – including students in Singapore – must take to gain admission to specific universities in Australia and Ireland. If you plan to enrol in medicine, dentistry, or selected healthcare-related courses in either country, you’ll need to do well on your ISAT to leave a lasting impression on the admissions team.
The ISAT measures students’ intellectual, critical, and quantitative reasoning skills. As the skills assessed during the ISAT are not typically covered during the Singapore curriculum, an ISAT test prep course can go a long way in helping you feel prepared for the exam.
Here are some critical steps you should take during the ISAT preparation process:
### **1. Understand the test format**
The ISAT is a three-hour online test comprising 100 multiple-choice questions. Candidates will be provided with four or five potential answers per question and must select the most appropriate response. Although there is only one correct answer per question, no marks are deducted for incorrect answers. Your overall ISAT scores will also be scaled based on the performance of the overall cohort rather than being based on raw scores.
### **2. Identify your strengths and weaknesses**
ISAT questions will require various skills, from quantitative skills to reading comprehension. This requires candidates to be all-rounded with proficient critical thinking skills in order to stand out from the crowd.
